When you’re moving a lot of SDI signals over fiber, things like rack space, cabling, and complexity can add up fast. The new MultiDyne MDoG-8800 gives you a high-density way to simplify fiber conversion in an openGear frame.
Choose dedicated fiber for each SDI signal, or use the CWDM version to put multiple signals on a single fiber. You can cascade cards and carry up to 16 signals on one fiber without external muxes.
For high-density applications, you can fit 10 MDoG-8800 cards in a 2RU openGear frame for up to 80 conversions. DashBoard support gives you router crosspoint control right out of the box, while a RESTful API lets you integrate control into higher-level systems.
At IBC 2026, Jesse Foster from MultiDyne spoke with Simon Tillyer from KitPlus about the new MDoG-8800, which also offers you flexibility when workflows change. A built-in 12G crosspoint lets you route any input to any output, while fiber redundancy and coaxial A/B input failover help keep critical signals moving.
They also talked about hybrid SDI and ST 2110 workflows that make it easier and more cost efficient to add IP capabilities to your existing infrastructure. You can put an openGear base station card for your SilverBack or VB PTZ systems in the same frame as the openGear MDoG-6060 to handle encapsulation and de-encapsulation for 12G or 3G SDI, offering you a compact way to build a multicamera workflow that supports ST 2110 for houses of worship, high-end broadcast AV, and other facilities making the move to IP.
